The day before the game with bottom-placed Aris all our championship rivals dropped points in supposedly easy games. Their results lifted the spirit of the orange fans which could feel that the top of the league was no longer a distant reality. Three points against Aris and we would level Anorthosis while we would also create a five-point difference from Omonoia. Not bad at all I would say… Yet reality was a different story. Despite going ahead with a Makrides first half goal, in the second half the worst team of the league managed to score twice against us and in the end we only managed to avoid defeat with a late penalty. The result was a huge disappointment for the fans which travelled in thousands to Limassol to be by the team and had high hopes before the game.

Overall if we can get anything positive out of this result is that we need to keep focused on each game and not underestimate nay opponent. Starting next week against Omonia, our arch-rivals are in a deteriorating position, yet judging from our performance against Aris we have no right to underestimate any opponent.
